The Holy Spirit has been sent to fuel us up so that we’re ready to launch at any time. And the Holy Spirit’s ready…He’s saying, “Let’s get things going! Pray for somebody! Step out and do something! Let’s go! I want to manifest through you!”
Some people say that if God wants to do something, He’ll just do it. Well, that’s not quite true. The Word of God is clear that the Holy Spirit needs someone to do things through. When you get that thought, “Hey…go pray for that person” or “give something,” most of the time that’s not just your thought; it’s the Holy Spirit prompting you to do something so that He can manifest in and through you.
9 For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead} continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature]. 10 And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead-Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power]. – COLOSSIANS 2:9-10 (AMPC)
Recognize how filled-up you actually are! You are overflowing with power to launch! You’re overloaded with authority to actually do what God has called you to do. This “call” isn’t just for a pastor or evangelist. You have things God wants you to do.
These verses in Colossians tell us that the entire fullness of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwells in bodily form. Jesus came to waken us to our original design and purpose, to be that bodily form! God doesn’t just exist in a synagogue or specific location; He came to live in us!
I know it’s a potentially mind-blowing concept, but the same God Who created everything wants to have a personal, intimate relationship with you and me! Amazing, but true. I don’t think we don’t give that fact the level of importance that we should. Every now and then we’ll get a glimpse of it, but we don’t see it all the time and how that could really impact our lives every day.
In verse 9, we see that the entire fullness of Deity is in Christ Jesus. In verse 10, we see that we are in Him (in Jesus, we are filled with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit); we reach full spiritual stature! Notice how many times the words “filled” and “full” are used in these two verses. Verse 10 also says Jesus is the head of all rule and authority of every angelic principality and power. All means all! There’s no power in Hell that’s stronger than Jesus, no demon, no sickness, no pain…nothing!
It’s amazing to me that God chose us in whom to indwell. This wasn’t done by compulsion or lack of options. We were God’s crowning jewels that He created.
Look at the creation account in Genesis 1 and 2. He created everything else before He created humans; then, He created man in His own image and likeness (Genesis 1:27) to have actual relationship with us. If you look into the first part of Genesis 2, you see that after God created man and blessed them, then He rested. He didn’t rest because He was exhausted from creating everything; when Genesis 2:1 says God rested, it was like a lawyer resting his case. After creating man, there was nothing left to present.
“God didn’t rest because He was exhausted from creating everything; when it says God rested, it was like a lawyer resting his case!”
Jesus told His disciples – and by extension, us – (as recorded in John 14:16-18) that He would ask the Father God and that Father God would give them “another Advocate” Who would never leave us…the Holy Spirit. He said, “you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you.” This was fulfilled after Jesus went to the Cross and was resurrected. Remember what Jesus told His disciples:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about Me everywhere – in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – ACTS 1:8 (NLT)
The Holy Spirit is like fuel…it powers us up. But like fuel, it has to be in place before it’s able to generate power.
A Ferrari Testarossa Without Fuel?
Think about a powerful sports car like a Ferrari Testarossa. Now, consider if you owned one of these classic 12-cylinder sports cars and it was sitting in your driveway. (Whew!) But then consider this: if there was no gas in that Ferrari, it would just be an ornament in your driveway…it couldn’t function as it was created to function. Sure, you could sit in it and adjust the mirrors, but it’s not going anywhere!
So many times, that’s the way we are with God! We’re just sitting on the rocket pad, but we haven’t fueled ourselves up by reading God’s Word, praying and learning more about what God wants us to do. We may look powerful, but are we just ornaments “looking pretty”?
We have the very fullness of the Godhead – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – wanting to work through us! What an amazing truth this is! The God Who created the world has empowered us to be the light the world needs! Our mission is to share the goodness of God and bring hope and transformation in Christ! The Holy Spirit is supplied to believers to accomplish that mission!
So get – and stay – powered up and ready to launch!
