We don’t realize we’re to be stewards of God’s grace. Being a steward means allowing God to work through us (and that we’re obedient in doing that). Part of that grace is understanding that God has placed gifts within us; He has given every one of us gifts.
Some people don’t understand the importance of those gifts. Some overlook them; others downplay them. Some leave them dormant inside of them because others didn’t make them feel the gifts were important. If that’s you, understand that the enemy has been deceiving you to undermine what God is doing in your life.
God does not create “junk” and He doesn’t give junk away. Your gifts weren’t found at a garage sale; God designed the gifts specifically for you.
“God doesn’t create junk and He doesn’t give junk away.”
Sometimes a gift may show forth in practical service; sometimes it’s a spiritual gift, but you can’t overlook gifts based on your understanding. As Romans 12:7 states in the Mirror Bible, our gifts might be to allow us to be alongside someone to remind them of their true identity…who they really are.
Take the gift of encouragement for example. People downplay it or think it’s not important, but God has called us to always be filled with encouraging words. Such words have restoration power in them. They have an ability to thrust forward to accomplish a goal. God intends for us to have that kind of attitude in everything we do.
“For even the whole creation waits expectantly and longs earnestly for God’s sons to be made known [waits for the revealing, the disclosing of their sonship.” – ROMANS 8:19 (AMPC)
Creation longs for God’s gifts to be made known. For that to happen, we have to believe we’ve truly received God’s grace. (God wants to bring peace to us. He wants us to understand that His grace is sufficient. He wants us to see that our faith counts. As I’ve said in the past, we have a new identity.
Sin wants to get you distracted so that you don’t see who you really are. Sin tries to make you think you’re an addict or a drunk, a liar or a fornicator. It tries to make you feel that that’s who you are, but that’s not who you are: You are a steward of God’s grace.
