Abundance isn’t just financial; abundance is a provision in every area of our life.
2022 is our year of BREAKTHROUGH! That said, it’s interesting how many things have already happened in the short time 2022 has been around! One of the main things we dealt with as a church was that our founding pastor was in the hospital for nearly a month and his wife for five or six days. They are both recovering nicely, but there has been a process in those recoveries.
The fact that this occurred does not mean that God was going, “Yeah, I’m okay with this happening.” No! God knew it was happening and he prepared us for it. Before the challenge occurred at the end of December, God had told me weeks before that 2022 was going to be our year of breakthrough.
Then, last week, we had the major rain/ice/sleet/snow storm that took place. That Saturday, the guy who was plowing/clearing our parking lot and sidewalks accidentally knocked over one of our outdoor light polls! Challenges; yet, God’s Word is true!
When People Get into Challenges…
When a person gets into a challenge or contradiction to God’s Word, sometimes they feel what they’re going through is unique…no one else has ever gone through what they’re going through. But it’s not. Everyone struggles with challenges – even Jesus was given the opportunity to struggle with challenges (though He refused to take them) – but we need to keep our focus on God.
The opportunity to struggle may occur, but we need to keep on standing on God’s Word.
We’ve been using as our core scripture, 2 Samuel 5:19-20:
“So David inquired of the LORD, saying, ‘Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?’ And the LORD said to David, ‘Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.‘ So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, ‘The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.’ Therefore, he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.” – 2 SAMUEL 5:19-20
We have to remember that although this is in the Bible, it wasn’t part of the Bible at the time it occurred. People didn’t have all of God’s Word – they really just had the first five books of the Bible recorded at the time – so they had to inquire of God to find out what God wanted them to do. They didn’t have the whole Bible, including the New Testament, and the truth of what has been accomplished through Jesus. Consequently, they had to ask these questions.
Today, we don’t have to ask the questions like, “God, do you want me to fight against this sickness or depression or attach on my finances.” We know God wants us to fight the fight of faith, knowing we already have the victory! (1 CORINTHIANS 15:57)
The Bible is clear that we’re to resist the devil (JAMES 4:7) and he will flee. If he hasn’t fled yet, keep resisting! In 2 Samuel, God told David “Go up, for I will doubtless deliver…” From the moment God said that, it was a guarantee. When God says something, He means it!
When Jesus said on the Cross, “It is finished,” it’s a guarantee (not because of what we do but because of what He’s done); we just have to place our faith and believe that what He did applies to us.
We need to follow His direction (“Go up…”); it’s a corresponding action to our faith that God is true.
Experience His Abundance!
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” – 2 CORINTHIANS 9:8
The Christian walk may not be an easy walk, but it’s a simple one: Believe God. The challenge to that comes when you face contradiction to that belief.
A big part of that belief is trusting that we have abundance for everything in life. How do we know this? Look at John 10:10…
People like to quote the first part of the verse, “The thief comes not but for to steal and to kill and to destroy…” but they neglect to quote the rest of the verse about the truth of God’s abundance! I like how the Passion Translation states it:
“A thief has only one thing in mind — he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect — life in its fullness until you overflow!” – JOHN 10:10
The enemy is all about trying to provide you with evidence of lack, while God is all about showing you and giving you the truth of His abundance. Truth overcomes “facts.”
Remember that when Jesus stated that, it was even BEFORE He went to the Cross; now, He’s made it available for us to participate in it because we are IN Him.
Breakthrough is a provision of abundance!
Realize this: The devil is always trying to steal when God has already given. If you didn’t already have something, it would be impossible for someone to try to steal it. The enemy is trying to steal…he does this by trying to convince you that you don’t have what God has already provided!
We have an ABUNDANCE for every good work! Believe it! Accept it! Live it!
